Baby Picture Frames – The 7 Most Popular Baby Frames

Babies are such an adorable addition to your life that you’ll find yourself trying to take pictures at every moment. The difficulty comes not only in choosing which picture to display but in choosing the perfect baby frame for your picture. Luckily, there are baby frames available in almost every size, style, and color imaginable. Once you have decided which pictures to display, start your search for the perfect baby frame.

To help you sort through the myriad of baby picture frames, we’ve narrowed your search to seven of the most popular types of baby frames.

Decorative Baby Frames

Decorative Baby Frames are the most common baby frames. These frames come in wood or metal and can be decorated with miniature baby items, like baby shoes or a baby rattle. These decorative baby frames are designed to be displayed on a table top or dresser as they are usually 4×6 or smaller and hold a single picture. Don’t worry about not being able to find the perfect decorative baby frame as there is a huge selection to choose from.

1st Year Baby Frames

1st Year Baby Frames are designed to capture baby’s entire first year. There is space for every month. These cute decorative frames are a great keepsake and come in a matted wood or metal finish. However, the pictures in this frame can be small, so if you want a larger version you can create your own first year baby frame. If you want to hang the display, consider purchasing an 11×14 wall frame and then design your own mat layout.

Baby Footprint Frames

Baby Footprint Frames are a wonderful way to capture a brief moment in time. Babies grow so quickly and a baby footprint or hand print frame will be a reminder of that precious time. There are two ways of making the impression – a molded material and ink hand prints or footprints. Most baby footprint frames have two openings – one for the impression or ink print and the other for a photo of the baby. The only problem with these frames is that they can be quite messy and may not always turn out just the way you want them. Unfortunately, often the hand/foot printing material either sets up too quickly or does not leave a clear hand or footprint.

Baby Sonogram Frames

Baby Sonogram Frames are designed to do just that – display the baby’s sonogram picture. The only challenge with these frames is that these frames often only have one opening so once the baby arrives this frame outlives its usefulness. If you want to combine the sonogram picture with a baby picture, you may want to consider using a shadowbox frame instead.

Baby Hospital Bracelet Frames

Baby Hospital Bracelet Frames are a clever way to display baby’s hospital ID bracelet. These frames include a small narrow opening for the bracelet and a place for a picture. If you want one small baby keepsake, this frame is it. But, if you want to gather keepsakes and display them together, you may want to consider creating a shadow box frame with the baby items you choose.

Baby Shadow Box Frames

Baby Shadow Box Frames are ideal for displaying baby’s first keepsakes in a single keepsake frame while keeping them safe behind glass. Shadow boxes are available in a variety of sizes, depths and colors, so you’ll be certain to find one that is perfect for your items. Shadow box frames make it possible to display different shaped sized objects in one baby frame. You can display any baby item that is precious to you – that hospital ID bracelet, baby’s first spoon, even a piece of a favorite blanket and keep them beautifully displayed with your favorite baby pictures.

Engraved Frames and Precious Metal Frames

Engraved or Precious Metal Keepsake Frames are made of silver plate, sterling silver or solid pewter. Silver plated frames have a beautiful sheen that goes well with any decor. Sterling silver, more expensive than silver plate, is a luxurious high quality frame sure to become a cherished family heirloom. Most silver plate and sterling silver frames are now available with a lacquered finish that keeps their finish from tarnishing. Sterling silver and silver plated frames are available with or without decorative baby items so you can find a frame that suits your particular style. Solid pewter baby frames are another popular option for baby frames. You can find solid pewter baby frames in plain solid pewter or lacquered enamel for added color. To add a personal touch to your frame, you can have your frame engraved as long as there is a smooth, flat surface and room for the words.

Hopefully the next time you shop for baby picture frames, you’ll know exactly what you want and save time and effort in finding the perfect baby frame.

Baby Nursery Decoration: 7 Facts You Need to Know

Are you about to start your baby nursery decoration project? Don’t even consider your colors until you have read these important facts.

Newborn Eyesight

…is primitive to say the least. They can distinguish light and facial features, albeit in a very fuzzy way. Think about it: looking at anything is really hard work at this extremely tender age. Your aim should be to make it as easy as possible for little one to develop this fundamental ability. For this reason it’s essential to plan…

High Contrast Visuals

Include some patterns like black and white or black and yellow. Think of this as you would watching something easy and familiar on television. Did you know that the best present for a new arrival is a panda soft toy? (Odd that they are so hard to get hold of, but indicative of the general level of ignorance on this topic). Bold, contrasting images will help your new arrival see better.

Sophisticated Thinking

Babies are more sophisticated thinkers than we assume. As Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn explain in their very clear and straightforward book Baby Minds, some newborns can imitate adults sometimes at only a day old by sticking their tongue out in response to an adult doing it .

Memory

It might seem that children don’t remember much at such a young age (apart from recognizing family members’ faces). Not true. Acredolo and Goodwyn point to research that shows how a 3-month-old baby can register what the decor of her nursery looks like.

Long Lasting Effects

Research from the Albert Einstein College of medicine shows that youngsters who perform better at memory tests in infancy also perform well in memory tests later in life. Whether this is due to an innate ability at this age or the likelihood of being in a nurturing, stimulating environment is not clear, but it’s best to err on the side of caution and assume that there is a link.

So…

The last two facts lead to a rather exciting conclusion. If babies can remember what their wallpaper looks like, and if a good infant memory is a skill for life, then if we can stimulate this ability to retain information surely it can only enhance their memory. But how?

Mix It Up

The answer is to change elements of your baby nursery decoration scheme regularly. This gives your baby more to remember, more mental gymnastics to work out to.

Of course none of this means you should go for an entire redecoration every two months. the key word is elements here. Even changing the position of your cot mobile and introducing a new wall sticker or even colorful image from a magazine, tacked up with blu tak, will make a difference.<!–

4 Worst Trendy Names for Boys

Choosing your baby’s name is a difficult task. This is what your child will be called for the rest of his or her lifetime. And making sure that it fits with your last name adds a whole new element to work with. Then it’s being certain that the name won’t make the child stand out in a bad way in school. Too often I think that parents go for a trendy name to make sure this doesn’t happen. The worst part is when they become part of a horrible naming trend. For girls, we remember names like Tiffani not too long ago racking up the top ten lists. For boys, I submit my list of the top five worst trendy boy names, in no particular order.

1. Logan – I have known some cool Logans in my time. But I dislike the name. It’s one of those names that moved from being a last name to a first and subsequently became extremely popular. Unfortunately, it sounds like loogey. Nobody wants a name that will be made to sound like discharge from the nose when he’s out on the playground at recess. According to babynames.com, it is an Irish name that means from the hollow.

2. Jaylen – This name is part of a rhyming trend with counterparts like Kalen. Babynames.com says it’s an American name that is a combination of Jay and Allen. The problem is that when they were combined they came out sounding like a girl’s name. I am not completely against names that can pass between the genders, but sometimes it’s just not right to give a boy a girl’s name. It would not be fun to be the only male Jaylen in class at school.

3. Keegan – This is another Irish name that means descendent of the fiery one, according to babynames.com. It’s very popular, but it sounds like some sort of vegetable. “Please pass the keegan and potatoes.” I can hear that being said around the dinner table. I don’t think that it could be a good idea to have a vegetable boy.

4. Sebastien – Sebastien is a name that immediately calls to mind the movie The Little Mermaid. I could meet a little boy named Sebastien and see in my mind’s eye a small singing crab. I believe that quite a few people roaming around in the population would do the same thing. However, it does mean venerable and is from the French.

Parents, Protect Your Children

Remember, It’s a War Between You and the Bad Guys

My daughter and I were talking recently, and I mentioned about those “Baby on Board” sign, and made the comment that I thought they were dumb. Your baby’s safety depends more on your ability to drive safely than mine. Besides that, in this day of weirdo people out stealing babies and
selling them, why would you want to alert people that you have a baby in the car? To make matters worse, a lot of times, I see those signs in parked cars where the parents have left the baby in the car because, you know, “they just need a couple of things.”

My daughter turned to me with that irate look she gets on occasion, and I knew I was about to hear something that really stirred her blood. “That’s bad enough, Mother, but I hate those signs that people put on the car advertising their children. All any pervert has to do is ride thought a neighborhood and look at a car parked in a driveway. In one swoop they know what the child’s name is and what he likes to do. Are they just nuts? I’m as proud of my son as any parent, and I’m not about to give any pervert an advantage. That’s what you should write about.”

After that conversation, I realized my daughter is right. In a time when we worry constantly about sexual predators grabbing children, parents need to be on guard at all times. You wouldn’t put a sign in your yard that says I have a house full of expensive items in my house and this is my alarm code. So why would you put on a sign on your car advertising your most precious possession, your child?

How to Deal with Breast Engorgement While Breastfeeding

A Clogged Breast Can Be Very Uncomfortable, Learn How to Help Ease the Pain

Sometimes when a woman breastfeeds their baby, engorgement can occur and be very painful. When this occurs, some women do not realize that they can have relief within a couple of hours. All they have to do is know how to get the relief.

At the first sign of breast engorgement, take a few Advil or ibuprofen to reduce the swelling. The
ibuprofen will also help ease the pain within at least 30 minutes after taking them.

Take a really hot washcloth and place it on your breast where it is red and sore. This will allow the clogged duct to slowly begin releasing the milk that has been stopped.

Take a really hot shower. Allow the water to fall directly on your breast for at least 20 minutes. While the water is falling, rub your hand in a downward motion helping to relieve the clogged duct.

Last but not least, and I do believe the best relief is a heating pad placed on your breast for at least 30 minutes on high. I know that sometimes the heating pad can get a little hot, but heat is exactly what we are looking for here. If you cannot stand the high heat, do try the medium.

If you start feeling nauseated, feverish, or have a bad headache for more then 24 hours, please consult your doctor immediately.

Make Baby Night Nursing Easy

Because the newborn baby’s biological clock hasn’t established yet, they may wake you frequently during the night. And baby’s crying and screaming can make new parents very exhausted. Most of the new parents are struggling with the night nursing issue. In fact, if new parents can prepare
baby’s night necessaries in advance and have knowledge of how to respond to baby’s sudden events, night nursing could be easier.

If you are struggling with the night nursing issue, here has some tips and advices from experienced parents may help.

Some experienced parents give me the inspiration to write down these useful night nursing tips.

Knowing the possible events may occur during the night nursing:

1, Baby is hunger or thirst

2, Baby suppress urine or has damp diaper or bed

3, Baby feels too hot or too cold

4, Baby is bitten by the mosquito or other insects

5, Bad sleeping position causes difficult breathing

6, Sudden sickness

Controlling the temperature to create good sleep environment

1. Window: Open the window to get some fresh air, and then close it before sleep.

2. Crib: Don’t set crib under the window or the air conditioner.

3. Clothes and bedding: Don’t let your baby go to sleep naked even in the hot summer, protect the baby’s belly with some light baby blankets. Depending on the temperature, put on light-weight cotton sleeper or heavy fleece sleeper.

4. Air conditioner: The wind direction should not toward baby’s bed and as far as possible. Adjust the air conditioner to the natural wind mode or breeze status during the sleep.

Preparing baby night necessaries in advance

1, Feeding supplies: Breast milk feeding is more convenient. Lying down is ideal for night feedings; when baby is small, you may need to lay her on a pillow so the baby can reach your nipple. Or you may store expressed milk in the refrigerator. This will free you from feeling tired down by breast-feeding, and allow your baby to be fed by your partner if you feel really tired.

How to Childproof an Apartment in 30 Minutes or Less

So you’re dating a mother of small children, and your plans for the evening got derailed because the babysitter bailed. Your date’s coming over in a few minutes, but she’s bringing the kids with her. Looking around your place, you realize your apartment is full of things dangerous and
tempting to curious toddlers. What do you do?

Start With The Small Stuff
Toddlers put everything they get their hands on into their mouths, and that includes things like loose change, thumb drives, lighters, prized vintage Star Wars figurines, and more. As a rule of thumb, if it’s roughly the size of the kid’s fist, they can probably fit it in their mouth. Even seemingly harmless things like old McDonalds’ receipts can be potential choking hazards if the kid tries to swallow it.

Block or Bind Cabinet Doors
Toddlers love to open things. Drawers, cabinets, especially those under kitchen or bathroom sinks. Unfortunately, these are also the places people tend to keep dangerous chemicals and medicines. When possible, block the cabinet by placing something in front of it. Failing that, a rubber band connecting the knobs of two cabinet doors should be enough to keep them closed, or at least slow the munchkin down long enough for you or the mother to intervene.

Put Away Valuable Electronics
Kids loving getting their hands on valuable, and sometimes, fragile electronics. MP3 players, digital cameras, cell phones, remote controls, etc. can easily turn into bludgeoning weapons in the hands of an intrepid child, or they can become entangled in the cords. While it can be amusing to entertain a carefully supervised child by letting them play with your camera or cell phone, you’re better off putting away those devices and bringing them out only when you can devote time to it.

How to Date a Mother of Small Children

Dating a mother of small children can be a daunting, and at times awkward adventure. Many young men avoid dating women with children because they consider such women to be too complicated, or because they don’t want to be saddled with unwanted responsibility. This article presents some
advice that could be helpful.

The Children Come First
If you want to have a successful relationship with a mother of small children, you absolutely must come to terms with the idea that the children will be and should be higher on her list of priorities than you. Small children require a phenomenal amount of attention and care, and you can expect your plans to be derailed again and again because they’re sick or fussy or because the babysitter bailed. Be patient and be flexible. You’re better off making loose plans to see each other and then play it by ear than having a set itinerary.

Kids Aren’t Scary
Helping out with the kids is a great way to gain the affection of the mother. Small children are actually pretty easy to deal with – feed them when they’re hungry, change them when they need it, put them to nap when they’re tired. If you don’t know what to do, ask their mother – there’s no shame in being unsure. And remember, storytime is your friend.

Don’t Feel Obligated To Play Daddy
At least in the early phases of the relationship, don’t feel obligated to act like the father. You don’t have to provide financial support and you don’t have to be the disciplinarian. In fact, you’re better off not doing so – leave those realms to the mother. Whatever you do, do not demand that the kids call you Daddy and don’t allow their mother to force that title on you – if they come to that decision on their own, that’s one thing, but don’t try to force it on them.

Organizing Baby Boy Clothes

One of the most common and best forms of gifts for babies is clothing. It is quite common for baby cupboards to get messy and overburdened with clothes, so much so, that it gets difficult to ascertain the relevant pair of a certain item.

Depending on the size of the closet/wardrobe of your baby, it would require to be arranged and re-arranged quite frequently. The baby boy dress clothes may be hanged or neatly arranged on the racks of the closet. In case you want to hang them, you will require small sized hangers or dividers, which are quite cheap and readily available in your local stores. You may also make them at home with certain wires and relatively soft material, if you intend to save money.

Hangtags, as are commonly available on the market and local stores, may also be used to organize your baby boy clothes. You need to figure out the clothes, which are being used and the ones that are not. Those that are not being used may be sorted out and packed in boxes (ideally covered in acid-free paper to avoid discoloration) which are clearly labeled as to the type and size of clothes that it contains. So, no matter who is packing the boxes, any one who later on intends to use it may be able to figure out the contents of it.

Chester drawers may be utilized more effectively by dedicating them to your baby’s clothes, which are small, and hence, do not take much space. However, there may be other heavy clothing items such as sweaters and over garments such as snowsuits, which do not fold easily and must be kept separately; ideally, in a hand basket.

Little post it notes or tags on every compartment of the drawer or closet/wardrobe can be an excellent way to organize your baby’s closet, which will clearly demarcate your baby boy clothes from other accessories and clothing items.<!–

Free Baby Shower Games That Are Fun

Free baby shower games seem to be something that people are always looking for because at a baby shower one of the best parts other than giving away clothing for the new child that will be coming into
the Earth soon is playing games! However, for many people the games at baby showers cost them money that they might not have because they want to save money up for the baby. I know at my baby shower I had several games that were played and they were all very fun and the best part was they were free baby shower games that I was able to play! Here are some of the best free baby shower games that I have played while at baby showers.

The first free baby shower game that you can play is one of the old standby games that I am sure most people have played at some point of time during their life if they have been to a baby shower. That free baby shower game involves some toilet paper and a piece of paper. Now I know that toilet paper is not free, but for most of us we always have several extra rolls of toilet paper laying around our homes. The fun part of this is every has to guess how many sheets of toilet paper it is going to take to wrap around the proud and expectant mothers belly. The winner will be the one closest to the proper number or have the exact number. The prize for this fun free baby shower game will be what ever is determined by you as the person hosting the baby shower.

The second fun free baby shower game is one that could take some time to actually discover the winner. That is to have everyone try to guess the weight of the new baby when it is born. I know that this can be one of the more fun free baby shower games that you can play, but you will want to keep track of the closest person in a notebook that you will not lose and that way you will be able to place the memory of this free baby shower game in your baby book so that even your little one can remember the game.
